As it's getting less possible for me to post my writing here (as things are going to be more and more considered for publication) I might instead start posting character bios/outlines here for me to get a better sense of who they are as well as for anyone still reading this thing to get to know them better.

I'll start thinking about who to develop and how and try to get to posting on a schedule again.

Probably weekends.

I'm on an extended vacation between jobs right now (New job starts 8/20 and I SHOULD be writing but instead I'm watching k-dramas. Because I suck.

But I HAVE been doing some world building, especially after I found this super handy generator/resource. I love it and will be using it like...all the time now.

Sunday six!

The other day I managed to write about 1500 words in less than an hour after taking some advice from the 2k to 10k book and plotting out the scene I wanted to write before I started writing it. Totally boosted the hell out of my word count. If I get a chance to actually do like a good 3 hour writing chunk, (next day off yes?) I'd love to see how much I could churn out then.

I was tooling around some more in Scrivener today, adding some notes, other random scenes and the one I wrote the other day, and just generally organizing when I remembered it was time for the Sunday Six. So here you go, some from that scene I was talking about.

A trickle of sweat made its way down the back of Tessani's neck as he turned slowly, his eyes focused on the shadows in the room. Ilossa hid in one of them and she was biding her time, waiting for his guard to go down so she could spring. Tessani closed his eyes and reached out with his senses, coaxing curls of shadows from those cast about to him. He tested their shape and size, weighed them to feel extra density. He paused at one corner, feeling an unnatural depth there, one that might account for a person concealed in shadow. Tessani opened his eyes in time to see a dark shape flit from the corner he'd focused on to another and he grinned.

"Found you," he called, and he twisted both hands, yanking hard on the shadow in that corner as if tugging a blanket off a sleeper to reluctant to wake. It came easily, sliding toward him and revealing...absolutely nothing.

This picks up right after my last post.

Tessani took his time before answering. He let his gaze roam from each member of the council to the next, to the guards and even the witnesses to his trial. He held his head up high, dark curls damp from sweat and clinging to his face and neck. He answered, his voice quiet, but firm, "Only a fool would choose death when he has a chance to live and prove his innocence. I choose exile."

Also I did some more planning on this series yesterday. I have the first seven chapters outlined (albeit very short outlines) but it gives me a better idea of how this book is going to got. I need to figure out the climax/major plot of book 1 and how it fits into the whole overarching plot of the series. I just need the time to sit down and do it. I'm hoping I can this weekend. I'm also planning to use Rachel Aaron's 2K to 10K so that when I do make the time to write, I'll be churning out enormous word counts. I hope this works.

Hopefully I'll be letting you know soon.

My post for today is locked due to smut but if you want to read it, it's posted unlocked over at [livejournal.com profile] bb_shousetu here.

On a random note, I've been considering collecting my [livejournal.com profile] bb_shousetu works into an ebook and putting it up for download (I guess on my website and here)to give my work more exposure. I am just not 100% sure that it's worth the effort, but I don't see that it can hurt. (I recently learned how to make an ebook and I'm intrigued). I just dunno if more than like 5 people would even download it. Or hey I could always pull it together as a collection and submit it to LT3 as well. It'd come to close to 45,000 words. Closer to 50K if I include one I wrote and didn't wind up submitting to [livejournal.com profile] bb_shousetu (yet. I might still at some point). Food for thought.

Also, spent my morning brainstorming stuff. Trying to get back into the right frame of mind for what I'm doing.

moop!!

Probably not writing today but I did some more brainstorming/world-building. I have a ton of work to do and then I'm going out after work so I'll have to hustle my writing over the weekend.

THERE IS STILL HOPE.

I finally have a real workable plot for my next [livejournal.com profile] bb_shousetsu story for the Hookers and Blackjack issue! I'll post a tidbit here, but as a reminder, most of my daily posts from now on (if they are daily) are going to be short snippets that don't give much away, since most of my writing this year will hopefully be for publication.

Julia Roberts was right. I should never have kissed him. The circumstance may have been completely different, but it mostly amounts to the same thing. 'Don't kiss on the mouth' was just a way of saying don't let feelings get involved. I should have listened. Falling in love was not supposed to be part of the job.

This story, assuming I can wrangle it into submission, will involve escorts, gambling, cover ups, business fronts, blackmail, undercover work, drug trades, and possibly slave trade. To make it work it has to have a lot of focus, detail, and research. And length. I don't think I can crap out on the length for this one. We'll see. I need to start writing it now that I have a real idea. Also needed: names for the three major players.
actionreaction: mini icons of coffee, computer, pens and paper. text: now what? ([writing] now what?)
So I saw this picture and the story behind it is that these two boys were fighting and they got to choose their punishment: 9-day suspension or one day of holding hands all day, even during class. You can see what they chose.

I kind of want to write about what led to the fight and how a relationship developed during and thereafter this hand-holding escapade.

EDIT: Oh iTunes you are HILARIOUS with your music choices.

So it's somehow 12:30 and I think I killed most of my morning plotting a series that uh. I shouldn't even be working on considering how many other things I'm supposed to finish first. However, I now have the six major players, a possible seventh (not sure where that one fits in) a hook for each novel, and a basic idea of the world it's set in. That's where I'm going to wind up spending most of my time, I think. World-building. Because LKEDHKJSJK steampunk ffffff. I wind up writing anything concrete for it soon, I'll post it here :)

EDIT: sooo I wrote something. Who's surprised? Posting that in a few.

Yep that's me. I decided I needed some sort of recognizable symbol for at least the one series I'm working on, both for plot and marketable reasons. I cracked open a journal and started jotting down ideas for symbols that would represent sleep or dreams. I wrote and doodled and thought while staring at my journals...which was decorated, mind you.

Then I BRILLIANTLY came up with poppies, which are a symbol of both sleep and death and triumphantly wrote it down in my decorated journal.

I make a point of repeating decorated because guess what's all over my damn journal?

Yeah. Poppies.

Woo.

Oh hai.

So...I'm writing a steampunk story at the moment. It's for [livejournal.com profile] bb_shousetsu over on LJ, but I have a secondary plot point that won't be introduced in this story that would go very far towards making this short story a full length novel instead. I still have to finish and edit my nano project, but I do tend to work better with a deadline, so I want to write this now while I have an actual due date.

I know next to nothing about steampunk, but the fun thing about the genre is that you can take the general guidelines (victorian meets science, spinkle with gears and brass and goggles, bake for 30 minutes, season to taste) and create your own steampunk world. I've got a fair amount of resources for when I'm ready to actually world-building, but [livejournal.com profile] bb_shousetsu story doesn't need that level of depth for the length it's going to be. I think.

I haven't finished anything in a little while again, so I'm looking forward to actually doing so. Um...that's all for now, just wanted to actually update this thing.

I did more brainstorming than writing today, but I did add a few paragraphs to Ai's birthday fic. It won't be entirely done by the 30th, but I can give her parts of it, enough for the surprise factor anyway :D Current word count is 1039.

I also managed to find a tale to work with for my BB Shousetsu story though. I was torn between just doing folkloric elements, or actually revisiting an existing tale, and found a happy medium. I'll be working with the moon rabbit but not strictly from Chinese or Japanese legends. I'm was thinking of tinkering with the Native American aspect as well, so this could be an exercise in fun or frustration for me. We'll see which. I'm hoping to actually get to writing it soon, but I want to get to a decent point in Ai's fic first, thus I have no word count to speak of yet.

Progress

So I'm gonna try to use this to start marking progress on full length novels as well as posting the shorter stuff that I uh, haven't been posting. >.>

Anyway current projects:

1. birthday fic for Ai. No details for now because it'll be a surprise. Will be posted here when it's done. It's coming along well though, and I gotta try my damndest to get it done in time.

2. BB Shousetsu submission. Folkloric, slashy, pr0ny, will be posted when done. It'll be f-locked here, but I'm gonna post a link to the public submission as well. I'm thinking of submitting it to Torquere Press when it's done, if it fits criteria. My idea so far is very basic. I know it's going to be very vaguely like Brigadoon, but I don't want it to just seem like "a version" of it. Still the feeling of the town being there one moment and gone another is a big part of it. I only have a few sentences written.

3. The Oneric Chronicles. This is my Novel in Two Years project that's...not quite where it should be, but I'm still plugging along.

So that's all for now, but I'm in a hell of a good mood right now :D

I am working on a collection of retold fairy tales - emphasis on 'fairy'. That is, these are all gay retellings, usually replacing the relevant princess with a prince. I've done two already and it made me want to write eight more and put them in a collection I plan to publish on Lulu.

So here's just a bit of brainstorming. Feel free to ignore.

Feel free to leave comments wherever you want. On this post, the individual stories, anything.

Update

Never fear. I have not forgotten this journal. I've been busy lately writing my actual novel Sword and Blood as opposed to short stories. So those of you waiting on drabbles like for instance more on Pembroke Academy? You're going to have to wait. I've been writing nonstop it seems for at least 5 days, and I've tripled the length of Blue, Black, Red.

Most of you should know this already - I've been posting in [inksome.com profile] mysticshell. I've also been posting drabbles for my fic100 challenge there as well, mostly because I want more exposure on those that this journal provides.

Speaking of exposure, if you didn't know. I've found possssssssible publishing for Sword and Blood - and by that I mean it's someplace that specializes in gay erotica - short stories, novels and graphic novels. I've found my niche. Anyways, just giving an update in case people have missed it on my regular my journal. WHICH YOU'D BETTER ALL BE A PART OF.

That is all for now. xD

Order up!

All right, ya'll. It's up to you. What do you want to see next? Part Twelve of Pembroke Academy? Pictures of the school uniform? Pictures from the Joran series? More character development from Joran? Or something entirely new?

Fantasy, slash, het, original, fanfic, whaddya want?
