I've been doing more outlining than writing on this, which is nice - I'm starting to get a sense of what's going on in this story and what I'd like to happen. Characters are fleshing out, the intrigue's building. I'm happy with this so far! So here's a teaser:

When Tessani woke, the first thing he noticed was the emptiness. There was something missing, something that made him feel hollow. He looked over at Jindra who likewise was coming awake; her eyes and face looked dull and drained, as well as every bit as empty as he himself felt. In that moment, he knew what was missing.

Naj and Bel were gone.
