He’d never followed Lolth with any part of his heart. It was duty, not faith, that had him following his matron’s orders, till the day she shattered his trust in her, used him, made him break the vows he’d taken. Shar fled the Underdark after having killed her, knowing without doubt the punishment for such treachery. Even though it was more justice than treason.
His faith – whatever there had been of it – burned away the same moment, though who to worship now was the least of his concerns. It didn’t matter. Faith would find him, in the form of surface dwelling drow and followers of light and music. Eilistraae had found him, would make him one of her own.
In her, Shar found the strength to be devout again.
