He always knew he was coming back. He always knew one day, years later, he’d return, cross the Menomenta that secretly cut through the Tel’Ranaemyn and go back to where he once called home.
Silmataurea.
Rion never doubted he’d come back, revenge on his mind and in his heart, but he had no idea he’d return in less than twenty years, lifebonded to a king, with their army at his back. He had no idea his revenge would be so sweet, so thorough, and that he’d finally make every single elf in that village pay for what they did to him as a child.
He never knew he’d have someone he loved, actually loved, there to fight with him, for him, and inflict every inch and bit of pain and hurt on the grey elves as they once had done to Rion.
They say you can’t go home again. Coming back to Silmataurea was not going home, but finally closing and razing to the ground the most painful chapter of Rion’s life.
Coming back was being born again.
