If you're just tuning in, as part of a yearly tradition with [personal profile] yabamena, we write each other drabbles for the 12(+1) days of Christmas. Day 10: Finally caught up. Sorry for the f-list spam. I just have not been posting these daily as I should have. I only have two left after this and they'll be posted tomorrow and Monday.

JD had stopped celebrating Christmas years ago. When the holiday season meant either wheeling and dealing with administration at Salem Academy to stay there during the holidays rather than go back to the boys' home in Jersey, after a while, the holiday started losing meaning. When you had no family, no loved ones, what was the point of it? Certainly not the religious aspect -- he'd given up on that even longer ago. So now though he'd been an adult out of the system and out of Salem for a few years, Christmas was just another highly irritating day to him.

As part of a yearly tradition with [personal profile] yabamena, we write each other drabbles for the 12(+1) days of Christmas. Day 9: Yay, more kpop inspired band-slash!

Sometimes it was a little too easy to get caught up in the stage lights, the persona and the performance. Sometimes it was a little hard to figure out where the performer ended and the maybe not so ordinary young man began. Sometimes, it was hard to turn off the daring, inappropriate fanservice that sent girls in the crowd into screaming fits.

As part of a yearly tradition with [personal profile] yabamena, we write each other drabbles for the 12(+1) days of Christmas. Day 8: This is pretty schmoopy. Again, these folks have superpowers, but don't use them within this drabble.

New Year's Eve in New York City wasn't about fancy restaurants, champagne on rooftops, or cramming into Times Square to freeze among a million other people to watch the glitzy ball drop. At least, it wasn't like that for Chien. To him it was rum and cokes until midnight, affordable champagne at midnight, and dancing with Mo until they collapsed, but only after that sweet kiss that made him tingle even more than the bubbles did.

As part of a yearly tradition with [personal profile] yabamena, we write each other drabbles for the 12(+1) days of Christmas. Day 7: So hey sometimes I write fandom! HP fandom, Dean/Seamus aka my OTP to end OTPs

The press of the crowd was something Dean was not nearly as fond of as his many former Gryffindor friends. Out of them all, he was probably the most introverted; he valued his quiet time, his alone time. He didn't mind sharing it with Seamus, because despite how much energy Seamus exuded, he also knew when Dean needed to be alone to create or just to recharge.

As part of a yearly tradition with [personal profile] yabamena, we write each other drabbles for the 12(+1) days of Christmas. Day 6: So this is kpop (faux) bandslash. We created a band (and a label for the band, as well as a few other talents under said label) annnnd stuff happened.

It wasn't often that Lunatox members got any time off. They were still a rookie group after all and that meant every minute of their day was scheduled for something, whether it be practice, performance, variety show or sleep. So when their manager told them, only two days after Christmas, that the were given the day off to spend at a shopping mall, and were give an allowance, KC could only stare in pleased surprise.

As part of a yearly tradition with [personal profile] yabamena, we write each other drabbles for the 12(+1) days of Christmas. Day 5: More May-December!

It wasn't often Dixon had the time to swing by Li's job. He was usually working himself, but sometimes things slowed down a bit around the holidays. People were more concerned about buying gifts and seeing loved ones than getting new ink. And he knew damn well most of his staff wanted to spend time with their own families too so he closed up shop early this time of year. It meant he could pull up outside the boutique Li worked at, the engine on his bike rumbling before he turned it off.

As part of a yearly tradition with [personal profile] yabamena, we write each other drabbles for the 12(+1) days of Christmas. Day 4: Corvus bound by a sorcerer who can command him into raven form. Because of this bond, Corvus doesn't remember much of his past, Then he meet Mars. Now he's strugglng to break free and at the same time, protect Mars from this same sorcerer.

Christmas was one of the things Corvus struggled to remember. It came to him in scents: pine, peppermint, apple-cinnamon, burning logs, sugar cookies, and roasted chestnuts. It was flashes of memory: torn paper, laughter, screams of delight, falling snow -- though sometimes he remembered rain and warmer skies instead -- and faces he could never quite focus on. Christmas was feelings he clung to: warmth, love, cheer -- things he hadn't had in too many years to count.

As part of a yearly tradition with [personal profile] yabamena, we write each other drabbles for the 12(+1) days of Christmas. Day 3: Some May/December going on here. I've previously written them as fauxcest but this is a rebooted version where they do not become a step-family.

The weather turned bad in a matter of hours. One minute it was heavy but pleasant rain beating on the windows of the cabin and the next it had turn to icy snow. It weighed on the roof and the power lines; it was too much for the latter. The power went out and while Max froze -- figuratively -- Jack swore impressively, grabbed a powerful lantern and switched it on.

As part of a yearly tradition with [personal profile] yabamena, we write each other drabbles for the 12(+1) days of Christmas. Day Two: The cutest gang-bangers in the world. (It's tagged superpowers because these characters have them, despite not using during this drabble)

Years of not having someone he cared for, of never being in an actual relationship, of never even considering love a possibility meant Aksel still wasn't used to giving gifts. He still had difficulty expressing the intense positive emotions he felt about Han and he found it even harder to put those feelings into words.

I'm going to be flooding your f-lists. Sorry not sorry.

As part of a yearly tradition with [personal profile] yabamena, we write each other drabbles for the 12(+1) days of Christmas. This is the one I wrote for Christmas Day. These two are step-siblings who met (and were interested in each other) before their parents did and then later found out there were going to become a family. Awkward.

Manny had to admit that Christmas in Connecticut was actually pretty nice. The forecasted snow showers had begun a few hours earlier than expected, dusting the lawn and streets in soft white powder. Even if it turned out to be nothing more than flurries, it still meant he was getting a white Christmas, and he'd take it.

Rewritten fairy tales:

Rudy and the Beast.

The Beast is a car, but the term also applies to the rough around the edge mechanic who restores it.

I haven't posted writing in so long but I'm happy to post this, a snippet from Feint of Heart that will be PUBLISHED in Less Than three's upcoming Won't Back Down anthology! Wooo I'm getting published!

"Again."

Cal's eyes stung as sweat poured into them, but he didn't so much as raise a hand to wipe his brow. He could feel Sir Taren Veretti's eyes on him and he refused to look weak. So he blinked the sweat away as rapidly as he could, took his stance, and lunged again.

Once again his thrust was easily parried, but this time Taren slapped the blade further to the right, slid into close range, and smacked the flat of the blade against his stomach. "Hit. Were I an enemy, Cal Caison, you would be dead."

Cal gave in and shoved both his hair and a river of sweat from his eyes, but he didn't dare use stinging eyes and perspiration as an excuse. He'd seen Sir Taren fight with injuries that would have crippled a squire, and probably even a handful of Queen Selvia's other veteran knights. If he wanted to be half as good at Sir Taren, he had to be able to fight through discomfort.

This is a variation of something posted earlier, with a few lines more. I may post another snippet or two later, but as it's only ~15,200 words and it's being published for actual monies, I'd rather have as much of the whole story in tact in the anthology as possible.

I know. I disappeared again. My job hasn't gotten any less demanding. I am writing still, but not finding time to post things. I'll try to get on track, but I have a deadline coming up next week and posting here isn't going to be my priority for a little bit. :(

It's been forever, I know. I have a (new) really demanding job time-wise and I haven't been forceful enough in carving out writing time. But I did some writing on the train today, while I'm suffering from a book hangover, so I'll post some snippets. It's a little over five sentences, but I'm sure you won't mind. ;)

"Shannon, not all dream creatures are created by peaceful sleepers. Feasters a product of terror and nightmares. Like those stories about the Jabberwocky, they feed off fear. Recurring nightmares make them stronger and so do night terrors."

I swallowed and then said, "So if a Dreamwalker has a recurring nightmare or night terror-"

"They can probably create the most powerful and terrifying Feaster to come out of the Nightmare world."

Sorry!

I'm on an extended vacation between jobs right now (New job starts 8/20 and I SHOULD be writing but instead I'm watching k-dramas. Because I suck.

But I HAVE been doing some world building, especially after I found this super handy generator/resource. I love it and will be using it like...all the time now.

It's longer than six sentences. Deal with it.

Jun closed his eyes and stood near Klaus's bed, focusing on the residue of his electromagnetic signature. He picked it out easily; it registered for him as an elusive and shifting deep red, thinner at some points and then expanding into a bolder line elsewhere. Made sense for a 'porter, Jun though. Here and gone.

Whistling, Jun open his eyes, and left the same stealthy way he'd come in. It didn't matter how much Klaus could teleport away, Jun had his trail now and in all the time he'd worked for the Institute, he'd never once lost a trail. The place was full of the people he'd found. Klaus was not going to be any different.

I was out most of today so this is a little late.

Jun started exploring the small apartment, pausing every few feet whenever he noticed something that gave him a little insight into Klaus. He wasn't overly messy; the strewing about of clothes were a little haphazard, like he cleaned up maybe once every week or two and hadn't had a chance yet this week. His fridge was full of sodas, beer, milk, and some questionable cold cuts. The cabinets were full of cereal, ramen, and other instant foods. Clearly Klaus was no cook.

So I have a LOT of vacation time coming up. Hopefully this will translate to more posts here because I intend to write a lot. For now, have this:
"Well, I know your name, Niklaus," he responded, standing up as well. "Only fair you know mine. I'm Jun and I'm here for you."

It wasn't a why, but it was enough for Klaus. He inhaled, hoping this Jun guy - Korean name, if Klaus wasn't mistaken - had no idea what Klaus was capable of. He moved closer to the wall, as though he were planning to lean casually against it. Instead he flung out one hand, throwing what looked like a handful of black oil at it. it immediately spread, opening into a black portal that Klaus flung himself through.

It sealed instantly behind him.

I have had an extremely busy workweek and little time to write. I do have, however, more from that semi-abandoned [livejournal.com profile] bb_shousetsu project.

Klaus narrowed his eyes, watching the guy warily. "You followed me."

A snort. "Like I had to. I could have waited here for you to show up. I mean, if you're stupid enough to hide at your own apartment..."

Klaus stood up, the movement, slow as though he thought sudden movements might make this guy do whatever the hell it was he was here to do. It was a shame this was how they met: in any other circumstance, Klaus would have found him attractive.
