He was a stranger. Not just any stranger. A drow. Drow and elves went together like the proverbial cliché of oil and water. If the oil and water immediately would try to eliminate each other upon contact. Connor knew how he was supposed to feel towards the dark elf laying bound and captured across the back of the ranger’s horse. Shouldn’t have cared he was in trouble, should have been happy he was probably getting what he deserved. That’s how an elf should feel towards a drow.

He didn’t.

He was a stranger. Not just any stranger. An elf. A mixed elf, for sure, but an elf nonetheless. The moment Shar’s violet eyes met the staring green of the elf, he expected the stranger to turn and continue on his way. No elf would help a drow, especially not one in Shar’s situation. They’d all assume he was getting his just desserts and go along their merry way.

The stranger didn’t.

Hours later, they’d be sharing a meal together, the elf having rescued the drow. Months later they’d still be together, sharing far more than that.
